both ends of the cable.

100BASE-FX (MULTIMODE, MT-RJ) PORTS
In each 100Base-Fx port of this type, it should have an MT-RJ type connector. The cable
required to make the connection should be a fiber optic cable made up of two multimode
optical fibers, one to transmit data and the other to receive it. Each of the fibers should be

μm in diameter. The core and the cladding of the fiber are included in this diameter, as
can be seen in FIGURE 13. The core can be 50
μm or 62.5 μm in diameter. The
wavelength used should be 1300 nm (multimode). The cable length should not be more
than 2 km.
FIGURE 13 shows the most important input and output optical power characteristics
according to the type of multimode fiber used.
All the MT-RJ type connectors have a protective cap.
