saw chains / bar combinations suitable for the ma-
chine as described in the Operating Manual may be
used. In addition, the power supply must comply with
the description on the rating plate.
Compliance with the safety instructions in force in the
country of use as well as the operating instructions in
the Operating Manual also form part of the use for the
intended purpose. Persons who operate and maintain
the machine must be familiar with the Operating Man-
ual and must also familiarise themselves with poten-
tial hazards. Alterations to the design of the machine
and the use of components other than those specified
by the manufacturer exclude any liability whatsoever
on the part of the manufacturer for all resultant loss or
damage and invalidate the guarantee. This machine is
only intended for use outdoors (garden).
The equipment is allowed to be used only for its pre-
scribed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a
case of misuse. The user/operator and not the manu-
facturer will be liable for any damage or injuries of any
kind resulting from such misuse.
Residual risks
Even when the tool is being used properly, there will
always be certain residual risks which cannot be com-
pletely ruled out. The following potential hazards can
arise due to the type and design of the tool:
• Contact with the unprotected saw chain (injuries
from cuts)
• Reaching into the saw chain when the blade is in
motion (injuries from cuts)
• Unforeseen, sudden movement of the bar (injuries
from cuts)
• Ejection of parts of the saw chain
• Ejection of parts of the material being cut
• Damage to hearing if the stipulated hearing protec-
tion is not worn
• Inhalation of particles of the material being cut
• Contact with defective electrical cables (electric
shock)

Warning: The actual vibration emission value dur-
ing use of the machine may differ from the vibration
emission value indicated in the Operating Manual or
by the manufacturer. This can be caused by the fol-
lowing influencing factors to which attention should be
paid both before and during every use:
• Is the machine being properly used
• Is the nature of the cutting or processing of the ma-
terial correct
• Is the machine in good working order
• Sharpness of the cutting tool and is the cutting tool
the correct one
• Are the handles or, if applicable, the optional anti-
vibration handles installed and firmly attached to the
body of the machine.

GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION FOR ELECTRI-
CAL TOOLS

WARNING Read all safety information and in-
structions. Failure to adhere to safety information
and instructions can result in electric shock, fire and/
or serious injuries.
Store all safety information and instructions for future
reference.
The term “electrical tool” used in the safety instruc-
tions refers to mains-powered electrical tools (with a
mains cable).
1. Work area safety
1. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or
dark areas invite accidents.
2. Do not operate power tools in explosive at-
mospheres, such as in the presence of flam -
mable Iiquids, gases or dust. Power tools cre-
ate sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
3. Keep children and bystanders away while op-
erating a power tool. Distractions can cause you
to lose control.
2 Electrical safety
1. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never
modify the plug in any way. Do not use any
adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power
tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will
reduce risk of electric shock
2. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded
surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerato rs. There is an increased risk of elec-
tric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
3. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet con-
ditions. Water entering a power tool will increase
the risk of electric shock.
4. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord
for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power
tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp
edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled
cords increase the risk of electric shock.
5. When operating a power tool outdoors, use an
extension cord suitable for outdoor use . Use
of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk
of electric shock.
6. If operating a power tool in a damp location
is unavoidable, use a residual current device
(RCD)protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces
the risk of electric shock. Use a surge protector with
a release current of 30 mA or less..
