precautions
The rdq-6 is equipped with two 800 mA slo-blo fuses. These fuses are adjacent to the power
transformers on the power-supply circuit boards inside the unit. These fuses are in series with
the AC power and disconnects the power supply from the wall power in the event of a fault. If
either of the fuses blow, we first need to make sure the fault is actually due to the rdq-6.
Determine which of the fuses blew by noting if audio is still passing through the unit. If the
display is off except for the validity indicators, the fuse located on the power supply closest to
the front panel is blown. If the display is still active and audio is not passing through the unit,
turn the power to the rdq-6 off for at least 1 minute. If audio is still not passing through the
unit or the valid indicators are not on while the source material plays, the fuse that is located
on the power supply closest to the back of the unit is at fault.
When replacing the fuses, disconnect all associated equipment from the unit. This includes
all surround sound processors, CD transports, DACs, etc. Make sure there are no cables
attached to the rdq-6's inputs or outputs. Next, follow the instructions below to reach and
replace the fuses:
1.
Turn the power off and remove the power cord from both the wall and from the rdq-6.
2.
Remove the four screws securing the bottom of the lid to the chassis and then remove the
four screws securing the top of the lid to the chassis.
3.
Locate the blue toroidal power transformers; the fuse for the display is on the supply
closest to the display, the fuse for the audio boards is located towards the rear of the unit.
4.
Remove the old fuse and replace with a new fuse of the same rating: 800 mA slo-blo.
5.
Reattach the lid.
6.
Reattach the power cord and plug the unit in.
With your power amplifier turned off and nothing re-attached to the rdq-6's digital inputs or
outputs, turn the power switch on. If the rdq-6 still does not operate fully, contact the factory
for service. If it does operate, reconnect the cables to its digital inputs and outputs, carefully
noting whether the unit continues to function after each connection is made. If the fuse still
blows, this could be a sign of a faulty unit or a faulty cable. We recommend you then contact
the appropriate manufacturer.
