(2) Squaring Up of Linkage For Complete
Calibration
If part have been replaced, or for some other
reason a complete recalibration is necessary,
square up the linkage before the actual calibration.
1. Set temperature of test bath at middle of
element range (see range on element
nameplate).
2. Obtain right angle (a) by loosening the two
screws on top of element and slipping drive
lever on its shaft.
3. Obtain right angle (b) by adjusting length of link.
(3) Calibration Procedure
1. Check pointer reading at lower test
temperature. If reading is not correct, use
reference adjustment to reposition pointer.
2. Check pointer reading at higher test
temperature. If reading is not correct, use
multiplication adjustment to reposition pointer
about halfway toward correct reading.
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 until the instrument reads
correctly at both test temperatures.
4. (Steps 4 and 5 are required only if factory-set
length of link has been changed.) Set test bath
temperature at middle of element range. If
pointer does not read correctly, adjust length
of link to move pointer about 5 times amount
of error in direction of error. (Subsequent
refinement in setting of adjustments will bring
instrument into calibration.)
5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 until all readings of
pointer are correct.
