Installing the Transom Assembly

Connecting the Steering Cables

1. Coat the steering cable end with a liberal

amount of lubricant.

2. Install the steering cable and secure with

hardware as shown in

Figure 4-35

NOTICE: The flat surfaces of the spool barrel
cable guide tube must be positioned horizontally
to prevent feedback in the steering system.

3. Use a wrench to hold the flat surfaces of the

spool barrel cable guide tube horizontally.

4. Torque the coupler nut. Ensure that the flat

surfaces are still aligned horizontally after
torque is applied to the coupler nut.
