1. Lubricate:
• Spacer
• Dust covers
• Bearings
2. Install:
• Bearings “1”
• Spacer “2”
• Dust covers “3”
(to the swingarm)
3. Install:
The following procedure applies to both of the
pivot shaft cap.
• Pivot shaft cap “1”
TIP
Face the slot “a” in the pivot shaft cap downward
so that it is positioned within the range shown in
the illustration.
4. Adjust:
• Drive chain slack
Refer to “ADJUSTING THE DRIVE CHAIN
SLACK” on page 3-17.

To ensure that the seal lip “a” is positioned
correctly, install the spacer into the rear
shock absorber assembly as follows.
a. Push the spacer into the rear shock absorber
assembly past the seal as shown in illustra-
tion “A”.
b. Push the spacer in the opposite direction to
the proper installation position as shown in il-
lustration “B”.
Recommended lubricant
Lithium-soap-based grease
Installed depth “a”
1.5–2.5 mm (0.06–0.10 in)
