DISASSEMBLING THE CRANKCASE

1. Remove:

• Oil filter cartridge “1”

TIP

Remove the oil filter cartridge with an oil filter
wrench “2”.

2. Remove:

• Primary drive gear bolt “1”
• Washer “2”
• Primary drive gear “3”

TIP

Place an aluminum plate “a” between the bal-
ancer drive gear and the balancer driven gear,
and then loosen the primary drive gear bolt.

3. Remove:

• Crankcase bolt (

21)

TIP

• Loosen each bolt 1/4 of a turn at a time, in stag-

es and in a crisscross pattern. After all of the
bolts are fully loosened, remove them.

• Loosen the bolts in the proper sequence as

shown.

• M6

35 mm bolt (

2): “1”, “2”

• M6

45 mm bolt (

5): “3”, “7”, “8”, “12”, “13”

• M6

65 mm bolt (

3) (bolts with copper

washers): “4”, “5”, “9”
