1. Elevate the rear wheel by placing the suit-
able stand under the engine.
WARNING
Securely support the vehicle so that there
is no danger of it falling over.
2. Move the rear wheel several times and find
the tightest position of drive chain.
3. Check:
• drive chain slack
Out of specification
→
Adjust.
4. Adjust:
• drive chain slack
a. Loosen wheel axle nut
and both lock-
nuts .
b. Turn both adjusting nuts
in direction
or
until the specified drive chain slack is
obtained.
NOTE:
NOTE:
• To maintain the proper wheel alignment,
adjust both sides evenly.
• Turn each adjuster exactly the same amount
to maintain correct axle alignment.
(There are marks
on each side of chain
puller alignment.)
c. Tighten the wheel axle nut to specification.
d. Tighten the locknuts to specification.
Drive chain slack
35.0 ~ 45.0 mm (1.38 ~ 1.77 in)
Direction
Drive chain is tightened.
Direction
Drive chain is loosened.
Wheel axle nut
90 Nm (9.0 m•kg, 65 ft•lb)
Locknut
16 Nm (1.6 m•kg, 11 ft•lb)
