FRONT AND REAR BRAKES

EAS00642

INSTALLING THE REAR BRAKE CALIPER

1. Install:

• brake caliper springs
• brake pads
• brake pad pin
• brake pad clip

Refer to “REAR BRAKE PADS”.

2. Install:

• brake caliper
• rear wheel

Refer to “REAR WHEEL, BRAKE DISC,
AND REAR WHEEL SPROCKET”.

• copper washers
• brake hose

• union bolt

WARNING

Proper brake hose routing is essential to
insure safe motorcycle operation. Refer to
“CABLE ROUTING” in chapter 2.

CAUTION:

When installing the brake hose onto the
brake caliper

, make sure the brake pipe

touches the projection

on the brake

caliper.

3. Install:

• brake caliper protector
• brake caliper protector bolt

• brake caliper protector bolt

New

30 Nm (3.0 m · kg, 22 ft · lb)

7 Nm (0.7 m · kg, 5.1 ft · lb)

4 Nm (0.4 m · kg, 2.9 ft · lb)

4. Fill:

• brake fluid reservoir

(with the specified amount of the recom-
mended brake fluid)
