CLEANING THE AIR FILTER ELEMENT
1. Remove:

side cover (left)

air filter case cover

1

2. Remove:

air filter element

1

3. Clean:

air filter element
(with solvent)

After cleaning, carefully pat the air filter element
on a clean cloth to remove the excess oil.

4. Check:

air filter element
Damage

Replace.

5. Apply the recommended oil to the entire sur-

face of the air filter element and then careful-
ly pat the air filter element on a clean cloth to
remove the excess oil. The air filter element
should be wet but not dripping.

Recommended oil

Engine oil

6. Install:

air filter element

air filter case cover
(along with the gasket)

Never operate the engine without the air fil-
ter element installed. Unfiltered air will
cause rapid wear of engine parts and may
damage the engine. Operating the engine
without the air filter element will also affect
the carburetor tuning, leading to poor en-
gine performance and possible overheat-
ing.
