NOTE:

Before adjusting the rear brake, the rear brake
linings should be checked.
CAUTION:
_
Proper lever free play is essential to avoid
excessive brake drag.
1. Place the machine on a level surface.
2. Measure:

3. Adjust:

First step:
a. Loosen the locknut

and fully turn in the
adjuster

(lever side).
b. Turn the adjuster

in or out until the speci-
fied rear brake lever free play is obtained
(drum side).
c. Tighten the locknut.
NOTE:
If the free play cannot be adjusted here, adjust
if at the lever side of the cable.
Second step:
a. Loosen the locknut

b. Turn the adjuster

in or out until the speci-
fied rear brake lever free play is obtained
(lever side).
c. Tighten the locknut.
WARNING
_
After this adjustment is performed. block
the rear of the machine off the ground, and
spin the rear wheels to ensure there is no
brake drag. If any brake drag is noticed,
perform the above steps again.
