Birthday/Sex
This setting lets you enter your age and sex. Your gender has no bearing on the
functions of the BF-11, but your age is used for calculating the default maximum
heart rate (according to the formula 220 – your age) which is automatically
displayed in the Heart Rate setting menu.
1
From the User Settings menu, select the Birthday/Sex settings.

Enter the appropriate information for each.

Learning Function
The BF-11 memorizes the skip/top count and analyzes the playback priority for
each song. It also memorizes your manual pace change and calculates your
optimal pace and maximum heart rate in the Fitness modes and Training mode.
These features are together called the Learning function.
When you change songs while exercising, the BF-11 memorizes the skip/top
count—in other words, the number of times you skip over certain songs or go
back to the top of certain songs—and determines the playback priority of the
song. If a song has a high skip count (meaning you often skip it and go on to
another song), it is given a lower playback priority. If a song has a high top
count (meaning you often rewind back to the top of the song), it is given a
higher playback priority.
When you change the pace manually while exercising, the BF-11 memorizes
the pace changes and your heart rate and calculates your optimal starting
pace, fastest pace and maximum heart rate. If the calculated maximum heart
rate differs from the maximum heart rate setting you set before, you can
manually register the new value to the BF-11.
If you change your pace manually or change songs while exercising, a
confirmation message will appear when the workout reaches its end to prompt
you to memorize the changed information. Select “Yes” to memorize.
n
The playback priority is memorized for each exercise segment: warm up, during exercise, and cool
down.
