6. If the Lithium-Ion battery is dropped or heavily
impacted, the battery should be quarantined and
monitored for 24 hours in case of a fire.
CLEANING BATTERY
WARNING
Compressed air can move particles so that they
cause injury to the user or to other personnel.
Make sure that the path of the compressed air is
away from all personnel. Wear protective goggles
or a face shield to prevent injury to the eyes.
Keep the battery compartment clean and dry. Use a
clean cloth to wash the battery with water. Dry with
compressed air.
CHARGING BATTERY
WARNING
Disconnect the battery when doing cleaning and
maintenance.
If the lift truck has been operated with a low
battery, check the contactors for welded contacts
before a charged battery is connected. The circuit
will not reset and lift truck operation cannot be
controlled if the contacts are welded. To check the
contacts, see the Contactor inspection procedure
for your lift truck.
CAUTION
Use only battery chargers approved by the battery
manufacturer or dealer.
CAUTION
NEVER connect the battery charger plug to the
plug of the lift truck. You can damage the traction
control circuit. Make sure the charger voltage is
the correct voltage for the battery.
Troubleshooting Charger
Battery chargers normally operate automatically
without constant attention. It is necessary to make a
periodic check that the charger is operating correctly.

Knowing When Battery Is Fully Charged
WARNING
Always connect the positive cable to the positive
terminal and connect the negative cable to the
negative terminal. Any other connection will cause
injury and damage.
NEVER connect the battery charger plug to the
plug of the lift truck. You can damage the traction
control circuit. Make sure the charger voltage is
the correct voltage for the battery.
1. The battery charger will indicate charge is
complete by illuminating the
Green Charged
LED .
2. If the battery charger is OFF, wake-up battery and
measure the voltage across terminals. If voltage
is above 28 Vdc, the battery is at or near full
charge.
WHERE TO CHARGE BATTERIES
As Lithium-Ion batteries are kept with the vehicle,
unless servicing, all charging is done using the on-
board charger. The vehicle should be stored in a
location within charging temperature
0 to 45°C (32 to 113°F). The AC Power should be per
code standards and properly fused.
BATTERY CARE
1. When tightening the battery post nut, ensure
proper torque is used. Tighten battery post nut to
8.5 ± 1.5 N•m (6.0 ± 1.0 lbf ft).
2. Keep batteries clean.
3. DO NOT attempt to overcharge the battery.
Battery contains self-protection electronics and
will shut down if charge voltage is full.
4. Battery has on-board electronics that will
shutdown once depleted.
5. Keep batteries charged. A discharged battery in
storage will shorten the battery life. If battery is
left unused for a long period of time, minimum
recommended voltage is 25.6 Vdc.
