Troubleshooting

Problem:

You are trying to load from a memory card and the CARD light does not go ON.

-- or --

You are trying to load from a memory card and the CARD light goes ON 
and then OFF quickly.

Correct Operation:

The CARD light should illuminate for approximately 15 seconds when the Terminal Server
720 loads software from a Memory card.

Possible solutions:

If the CARD light does not go ON, make sure that the card is inserted properly.  Also, make
sure that the Terminal Server 720 is configured to load from the Memory card, using the
Initialization Configuration menu.  (Refer to Appendix C.)  By default, a Terminal Server 720
is configured to load from the card;  however, someone might have changed this setting.

If the CARD light goes ON and then OFF quickly during loading, either the card is not a
validly formatted card or it does not contain the correct files in the correct location.  After the
Terminal Server 720 has been loaded (either from the network or from another memory card)
and is running, check the card for files using the SHOW MANAGER FILES command.

Problem:

The Terminal Server 720 does not appear to load from the network, or is slow to
load from the network.

Correct Operation:

The load server downloads a software image and (optionally) parameters to the Terminal
Server 720, over the network, whenever the unit is powered on or re-initialized.

The terminal server should load within two minutes after power up if it is properly
configured on a load server.  The RUN light flashes rapidly (3 times per second -- 3 Hz)
after successful completion of the self tests.  During the software loading process, the
terminal server sends help messages to any terminal attached directly to one of the serial
ports.  Be sure to type RETURNs continually -- first to autobaud the terminal speed, and
then to receive an updated message with each RETURN you enter.

After the software and (optionally) parameters have been downloaded from the load server,
the RUN light should blink once every second.  Then, if you type several RETURNs at a
terminal connected to any serial port, the following message should appear:
