5. Lock battery disconnect switches.
6. Attach “DO NOT OPERATE” tag to battery disconnect
switches.
Return Telehandler to Service
When the telehandler has been repaired and made safe
for operation and maintenance, perform the following
procedure to return telehandler to service.
1.`Remove lock and “DO NOT OPERATE” tag from
battery disconnect switches.
2. Close engine access cover.
3. Remove “DO NOT OPERATE” tags from steering
wheel and ignition key.
Do Not Operate Tags
Tags that may be copied and cut out for lockout/tagout
use are located on the next page.
Before beginning any maintenance or service, place a
Do Not Operate Tag on both the starter key switch and
the steering wheel, stating that the vehicle should not be
operated. Do Not Operate Tags, which can be cut out
and used, are included at the end of this manual. Retain
these Tags for use at a later date.
Lockout/Tagout Procedure
Perform the following procedure to lockout and tagout the
telehandler. This procedure, requiring a lock and danger
tags, are to be used whenever the telehandler is unsafe
for operation or maintenance.
Warning
If telehandler is unsafe for operation or maintenance,
the defect or defects must be clearly documented and
posted in a conspicuous place on the telehandler.
Failure to comply could result in death, serious injury,
or property damage.
Removing Telehandler From Service
1. Attach “DO NOT OPERATE” tags (refer to Figure
8.1) to the steering wheel and the ignition key.

2. Wait two minutes after the engine is shut down before
disconnecting the battery with the switch. This opera-
tion is necessary so that the engine ECU has enough
time to write the data from the volatile memory after
the engine is off.
Note
Turning the battery disconnect switches too early may
confuse the ECU if the writing process is not completed.
3. Open engine access cover.
4. Turn the battery disconnect switches to OFF (refer
to Figure 8.2).
