5. Immersion leak test
a. Pressurize the Multimax
b. Fill the BC until taut.
c. Submerge MultiMax in water and check for leaks
6. Breathing test
a. Subjective breathing test
i. Breathe in slowly and deeply 4-6 times.
The MultiMax should deliver air easily and
smoothly. It should not leak afterward.
b. Flow bench with magnahelic
i. Opening effort should be between 1.4” – 1.7”
of H2O (3.5 – 4.5 mbar)
7. Purge Function Test
a. Depress the purge cover (41) with your thumb.
i. If you have to press hard before you hear the
air flow, the lever (37) may be too low which will
require adjusting the nyloc nut (19). See
Adjusting and Testing, Step 3.
ii. The purge should be strong and forceful. It
should not leak afterward. If the purge is weak
or the unit leaks, consult the Troubleshooting
Guide.
b. Flowbench
i. The purge should register a minimum of 5
SCFM (142 lpm) on the flowmeter.
8. Vacuum test
a. This test verifies that the diaphragm and all
o-rings are seated properly.
b. Shut off the air supply. Purge the system
completely. Inhale on the MultiMax. You should
not be able to detect any airflow.
c. If you are able to inhale, even slightly, there
is a leak. It is most likely at the large inhalation
diaphragm (39) or the exhaust valve (16). Reseat
them and try again.
This completes the reassembly, testing
and adjusting of the MultiMax breathable
inflator.
