To use the DC appliance outlet or USB
without the generator being operated
The 12 volt appliance outlet and or the USB outlet can be
used if a 12V car battery is connected to the charging socket
as described in the section “ To use the battery charging
socket ”. An appliance connected to the 12V Appliance
socket or to the USB socket will operated using the power
from the car battery. The generator does not need to be
operating for this to function, provided the lead acid car
battery has sufficient charge.
It is recommended to charge the lead acid car battery first.
Remove the battery from the car, boat or any other device.
The battery MUST be totally isolated from any other circuitry.
1. Connect the supplied
cables to the battery
terminals. Using the colour
coding, the clamps on the
cable MUST be connected
as follows. RED clip to the
+ Positive terminal on the
battery, and BLACK clip
to the – negative terminal
on the battery (Fig. S).
After connection to the battery, RECHECK to ensure the
connections are as above.
2. Start the generator and allow the generator to warm up.
3. Insert the plug on the opposite end of the cable connected
to the battery into the battery charging socket.
4. Check the DC reset button is pressed inward.
After charging the battery, the generator can be stopped
and at any time, the appliance socket can be used or the
USB outlet be used while the lead acid car battery is still
connected.
Note. Ensure the Appliance plug connected to the appliance
socket in the generator is fitted with a fuse.
Using the lead acid car battery as the power source, the
following ratings should not be exceeded.
12V appliance socket: 10 amp.
5 V USB:
1 amp.
Both sockets can be used at the one time.
Note. A safety fuse is fitted to the internal wiring of the
generator to prevent overloading of this feature.
Always ensure any plug fitted to the appliance socket is
fitted with a fuse NOT exceeding 10A.
WARNING.
• The battery gives off explosive gases; keep sparks,
flames and cigarettes away.
• Provide adequate ventilation when charging or using
batteries in an enclosed space.
• The battery contains sulphuric acid (electrolyte). Contact
with skin or eyes may cause severe burns. Wear
protective clothing and a face shield.
• If electrolyte gets on your skin, flush with water.
• If electrolyte gets in your eyes, flush with water for at
least 15 minutes and call a physician immediately.
• Electrolyte is poisonous. If swallowed seek urgent
medical attention.
• To prevent the possibility of creating a spark near the
battery, connect charging cables first to the battery, then
to the generator. Disconnect cables first at the generator.
DC overload cut out
IMPORTANT.
Exceeding the rated capacity of your
generator can result in serious damage to your generator
and connected apparatus.
1. The DC circuit has a circuit breaker to protect the
generator from over loading.
2. If the circuit breaker trips, unplug all electrical apparatus
from the generator.
3. Let the overload cut out switch cool down.
4. Press the DC reset button (5). Commence to start your
generator accordingly.
