M99 minifant operating instructions
Version M99E from 20.02.2014
4.2 Maintenance work in detail
4.2.1
Drive motor and gears
The airlock and the agitator motor and gears do
not require any maintenance work. The gears
are lubricated for their operating life. All screws
should be checked for tightness after 100 oper-
ating hours, or once a year.
4.2.2 DS and DS-pro models special fea-
tures
The special DS minifant model is equipped with
a drive motor which is controlled with a frequen-
cy converter. This frequency converter optimally
controls the motor in every operating mode.
Starting capacitor, operating capacitor and cen-
trifugal switch are not required. Therefore the
motor still has the full starting torque even after
hundreds of operating hours.
4.2.3
Air feed unit
The blowers are multiple setting radial compres-
sors which are powered by a collector motor.
The collector motors are equipped with carbon
brushes, which wear after approx. 300-350 op-
erating hours. (see operating hours meter). The
carbon brushes can be replaced by the manu-
facturer or reordered.
Please note:
The operating hours meter displays the time
that the machine has been running on the
setting "material". The blowers would have a
longer operating life if the machine was op-
erated with the "only air" setting.
The operating hours meter displays the
number of full operating hours before the
decimal place. The numbers after the deci-
mal place are decimal fractions of an hour.
To calculate the number of minutes, use the
following formula:
Number after the decimal place x 0,6 = number
of minutes.
Example: 4.56 h would be 4 h and approx. 34
minutes.
4.2.4 Airlock
The airlock chambers are sealed with
lips seals so that they are pressure re-
sistant. If the airlock nozzle pressure
drops below approx. 230mbar with full blower
power, the packing washers could be damaged.
To replace the packing washers, the following
steps should be carried out:
1. Disconnect the machine from the power
supply.
2. Remove the hopper top piece.
3. Dismantle the agitator by loosening the central
fastening screw and removing the agitator, pay-
ing attention to the cylinder bolt. Warning: Dan-
ger of crushing if the machine is activated.
4. Loosen the 5 screw nuts which secure the air-
lock washers.
5. Remove the clamp sheet and the old airlock
washers.
6. Put in the new airlock washers and clamp
sheet, secure the 5 screw nuts.
7. The adjustments should be carried out as de-
scribed in 3.5.7.
8. Connect the machine to the power supply, syn-
chronise the airlock with the S4 "maintenance"
button, disconnect the power supply to replace
the next packing washer.
Note: If sufficient airlock outlet pressure is not
achieved despite functional lips seals, consider the
following causes:
The blower power is not on full
The felt rings on the airlock shaft side are worn
Leakage in the air flow between the blower and
the airlock inlet.
4.2.5
Agitation unit.
The rubber bands on the agitator fulfil the following
functions:
1. Improved emptying of the machine
2. Helps to avoid blockages (a self supporting
layer of material is formed which restricts or
prevents material flow)
Worn rubber bands must be replaced.
4.2.6
Machine electrical equipment
Electrical equipment must be tested according to
the attached printout which conforms to VDE 0113 /
EN 60204, and testing periods must comply with
the recommended testing intervals.
