Set for separating twin wheels - commercial/heavy
vehicles
FIELD OF USE
:
The kit described in these instructions is used to separate and then
remove coupled and strongly seized wheels of commercial and
heavy vehicles.
Moreover, in many cases, the rear rim can also be released
by providing a support to the brake drum. This tool set is very
useful and should always be kept on board especially in case of
breakdowns, which lead to sudden interventions.
The problem
:
In particular, the rims' surfaces are continuously subjected to stress
and very demanding environmental conditions due to salt, alkaline
solutions, etc. on roads (during winter), which naturally give rise to
phenomena such as corrosion or other. Furthermore, construction
vehicles often get stuck in the mud up to the axle.
Over time, coupled wheels lock together due to contact corrosion
and/or rust formation on the hub. In most cases, unlocking these
wheels is very tiresome and takes a long time.
The set includes two centering sockets. In this case they are useful
and can be used for every wheel change (not only in coupled
wheels):
1 They keep the bolt-wheel thread undamaged while the wheel is
removed and assembled.
2 Optimal rim management and centering during assembly.
3 In the case of drum brakes, the drum is held in place. In this
manner, no dirt or rust can form between the hub and the drum
of the brake drum when changing the wheel.
4 Points 2 and 3 are therefore used to avoid unbalance due to
defective centering, i.e. when resting the rim against the unclean
hub.
This set consists of
:
1 x Ø43mm rim support-edge
1 x screw with hexagon drive - SW22
1 x Ø48mm presser
1 x Ø50mm presser
2 x wheel centering socket - M22x1.5
Always adhere to technical data and follow
the repair instructions provided by the vehicle
manufacturer!
PROCEDURE
:
First loosen two opposing anchor nuts. Screw both wheel-fixing
sockets, on one bolt-wheel, respectively, until they adhere to the
hub. Now space the remaining anchor nuts up against each other
(moved by 180°). The two remaining anchor nuts are now loosened
and are used as a protection if the rim comes loose.
Caution
: Spray anti-rust between the rim's flange and on the
wheel's bolt!
Now insert the support device of the rim-edge into the screw.
Choose one of the two pressers (supports) according to the rim's
structure.
