10 Software

Software programming of the Wouxun radios enables additional features not available through manual keypad strokes or menus. These features may
include: mode switch password, reset password, welcome message, priority scan channel, set scanned channels, DTMF options and frequency range
unlocks. See the software help files for more information:

Unlocking software (at own risk):

http://mods.dk

The majority of user issues with radio software are related to an incorrect port (or device name) setting for the computer-radio interface cable. Linux
users must also ensure they are members of the

uucp

 group.

Unlocking software requires care or you may brick the radio. Save all factory settings first by doing a “Program, Read from Radio, File, Save”. If you
do an unlock the TX range

must

match the RX range. Also be aware that the internal filters and the antenna are designed for a limited frequency

range.

For wire cloning between similar radios see the Wouxun manual.

(* Wouxun software also works in Linux under Wine (

http://www.winehq.org/

) but the Commander software can be problematic with Wine).
