Riding the Bike

Turn on the control module by pressing and holding the
“MODE” button. If you wish to use the throttle control in addi-
tion to “pedal-assist”, this is enabled by pressing the RED
button as shown.

The throttle control is activated by rotating the handle to-
wards you as indicated. The more the throttle is pulled the
greater the assistance from the motor.

To vary the amount of assistance provided by the motor, use
the UP and DOWN buttons as shown above to cycle through
the 5 levels of assistance.

Notes on maximum speed:

You cannot reach the maximum speed on throttle alone.

You can increase the maximum throttle speed by setting the
assistance level to high but to achieve the maximum bike
speed, you need to be using “pedal assist” mode. Your maxi-
mum speed will be then limited by your highest cadence or
by the motor.

The motor assistance will cut out in either of the following
two conditions:

1. You reach the maximum legal speed of 15mph (26kph).

2. The current through the controller reaches 14A.

Important note: the indicator on the bike gives only a
very rough idea of the battery status.

 If you are taking me-

dium to longer journeys, we recommend you charge it com-
pletely before each trip.

You should be prepared to put more effort in when riding up
slopes/hills. The more effort you put in yourself, the better
the range of the bike will be.

If you are a heavier user, you may find that the motor may
cut out when going up some hills, this is a protection feature
which prevents the various components from overloading,
this situation can be avoided by adjusting the effort put in by
the rider accordingly.
