Troubleshooting Guide
PROBLEM
CAUSE
SOLUTION
Boards Thick Or Thin On
Ends Or Middle Of Board
Stress in log which causes log to not lay
flat on the bed
After log has been squared, take equal
cuts off opposing sides. Take a board
off the top. Turn the log 180 degrees.
Take a board off. Repeat, keeping the
heart in the middle of the cant, and
making it your last cut.
Set in teeth
Resharpen and reset blade.
Bed rails misaligned
Realign sawmill.
Height Adjustment Jumps
or Stutters When Moving
Up or Down
Mast needs lubrication
Lubricate mast track surface.
Mast slide pads are not adjusted
properly (the entire surface of the pad
should touch the mast)
Adjust pads.
Lumber Is Not Square
Vertical side supports not square to bed
Adjust side supports.
Blade not parallel to bed rails
Adjust bed rails parallel to blade.
Sawdust or bark between cant and bed
rails
Remove particles.
Tooth set problems
Resharpen and reset blade.
Sawdust Builds Up On
Track
Excessive lubrication
Do not lubricate track with grease.
Track is sticky
Clean track with solvent and apply
silicone spray.
Wavy Cuts
Excessive feed
Slow down feed rate.
Improperly sharpened blade (This will
be the problem 99% of the time!)
Resharpen blade. (See Sharpener
Manual - read entire manual!)
Blade guides improperly adjusted
Adjust blade guides.
Sap buildup on blade
Remove sap. Use larger amount of
water flow to the blade during cutting.
Tooth set problem
Resharpen and reset blade.
