Measuring Insulation Resistance
7.1
Tests with Variable Test Voltage
DC test voltages within a range of 50.0 to 600 V can be selected under
U
VAR
for measurements at sensitive components, as well as within sys-
tems equipped with voltage limiting devices.
Test Voltage Menu: Display and select variable test voltage.
Select test voltage. Start
measurement.
Selecting the Test Voltage:
Display the desired numbers, and if required the decimal point, with the
help of the
and
keys. Select the desired numbers with the appro-
priate softkeys. Each time an entry is made, the cursor moves one place
to the right. After a maximum of three numbers have been entered, exit
the data entry window by pressing the
®
softkey. If the selected
voltage is not within the valid range, the cursor jumps back to the entry
position for the first digit.
7.2
Tests with Rising Test Voltage
The “U
” function is used for the detection of insulation weak points, and
for the determination of response voltage for voltage limiting devices.
Select rising test voltage.
Start measurement.
As long as the
START
key is depressed, test voltage rises
continuously. Insulation measurement is started:
•
As soon as maximum voltage has been reached
(variable test voltage),
•
As soon as the
START
key is released
(when the desired voltage is displayed) or
•
As soon as a measurable test current is detected
(e.g. after a discharge voltage sparkover).
Test voltage, any response and discharge voltage values and
insulation resistance are all displayed.
