10. Working with Combi-Line
• In general, the same replaceable
inserts should be used for roughing
and finishing. It should be noted here
that when finish ing, the depth of cut
(ap) must be at least 0.5 mm (.020") .
Only this will guarantee chip breaking.
• Up to a length : diameter ratio of 4:1
the insert holders with a height dis -
placement of up to 0.3 mm (.012") can
be used.
• With a length : diameter ratio of > 4:1,
we recommend same level insert hol-
ders. This reduces the risk of vibration.
• Same level insert holders must also be
used for machining blind holes.
Note when using replaceable inserts
with wiper geometry
• Cutting allocation basically 50 : 50.
• Max. chip removal 5 mm in diameter.
• When boring with wiper replaceable
inserts with 95° lead angle, with opti-
mized feeds you will achieve an impro-
vement in surface quality.
• The speeds stated are designed for a
symmetrical
tool design. Asymmetri -
cal designs reduce values by 50%.
• Short overhangs reduce concentricity
errors as well as imbalance. This incre-
ases the life of the spindle and impro-
ves safety.
• Suitable protective devices or machine
enclosures must be provided against
flying particles and cutter breakage.
• The mounting and fixing screws requi-
red must be checked for correct tight-
ness before work is started.
• Ensure that the tool is balanced to the
manufacturer’s requirements.
In principle, max. permissible speeds
involve a risk due to the centrifugal
energies involved. It is therefore
essential to take the safety aspects
into account.
