3.5.4 Swivelling a load hanging in a vertical position with the OKTOPUS
®
GL-K800
⇒
Suck the element as described in 3.5.2!
Never attempt to unlock release “Swivelling“ (see Fig. 10) if it carries a
load. This would cause uncontrollable “downward tilting” of the load!
In order to swivel the load from a vertical into a horizontal position, at least
3 persons are needed. Two persons have to secure and guide the load, the
third person has to operate the interlock release!
⇒
Before swivelling the load you have to take account of the fact that the swivelled load
needs more horizontal space. Make sure that the load does not hit anything during
swivelling!
⇒
Unlock the release “Swivelling“ (see Fig. 10) and move the load into a suitable position
and let the bolt engage in an appropriate position.

3.5.5 Handling of a load hanging in a vertical position without crane arm
The OKTOPUS
®
GL-K800 was conceived in such a way that it exhibits a very small overall
height. In case of only vertical handling of the elements it is possible to reduce the overall
height still further by disassembling the crane arm. The OKTOPUS
®
is coupled in this case
by means of an optionally available rope lashing to the hoist. As attachment point at the OK-
TOPUS
®
serve the two crane eyes present on the basic frame (see Fig. 13).
The crane arm is dismantled as follows:
⇒
Place the OKTOPUS
®
GL-K800 in a flat position on a clean and smooth surface (suc-
tion cups pointing down),
⇒
Remove the spring pin, the slotter nut and the washer (see Fig. 10),
⇒
Remove the crane arm inclusive swivel joint from the basic frame,
⇒
Remove the location bolt (see Fig. 10).
