ELECT LINE MODE
This command selects the display in 4 line mode:

This command selects the display in 2 line mode:

These 2 commands switch cursor coordinate between 2-line mode and 4-line mode.
The coordinate of 4-line mode is showed on section “Screen coordinates”. Under 2-line
mode, the position of 1st line is same as the 1st line under 4-line mode, the position of
2nd line is the same as the 3rd line under 4-line mode.
2-line mode cursor coordinate is designed for display of enlarged characters.

This command turns on the screen illumination:

This command turns off the screen illumination:

Backlight can be turned on or off by these commands. Default status of backlight is on.
The device turns on the backlight automatically whenever it receives command or
character from the communication cable.
