•
Installation, commissioning, modification and retrofitting
must only be performed by a qualified electrician.
•
Disconnect the device/system from the power supply
before starting work. If installation or system errors occur,
mains voltage may be present at the control circuit in the
case of non-electrically isolated devices.
•
When installing the equipment, please observe the electro-
technical and professional trade association safety regula-
tions.
•
Opening the case or manipulating the equipment in any
other way will render any warranties null and void.
•
In the case of improper use or any use other than for the
intended purpose, the device must no longer be used and
any warranty claims shall be void. Exposure to the following
(amongst other things) is not permitted: significant me-
chanical strain on the device (e.g. if the device is dropped);
voltages, currents, temperatures, humidity levels outside
the specifications.
•
Always check all safety functions in accordance with the
applicable regulations during initial commissioning of your
machine/system, and observe the specified inspection cy-
cles for safety devices.

•
The application-specific standards must be observed when
installing and operating the device.
•
The device must be installed in accordance with IEC
60364-4-44:2007-08.
•
Take the following safety precautions before starting
installation/assembly or disassembly work:
1. Disconnect the device/system from the power supply
before starting work.
2.
Secure the machine/system to prevent it being
switched back on.
3. Confirm that no voltage is present.
4. Earth the phases and short-circuit them briefly.
5. Cover and shield neighbouring live parts.
6. The devices must be installed in a switch cabinet with a
protection class of at least IP 54.

•
Limited contact protection.
-
Protection class according to EN 60529:2000-09: IP 20.
-
Finger-proof according to EN 50274:2002-11.
1
Proper use
The device is used for monitoring control devices in EMER-
GENCY STOP equipment. EMERGENCY STOP equipment is
part of the safety equipment for machinery, which is installed in
order to protect persons, material and machinery. In the event
of interruptions > t
R
, the device deactivates the enabling paths.
Operation below the minimum operating voltage (< 0.85 × U
N
)
may result in the enabling current paths being deactivated.
Only use the device in accordance with its intended purpose.
Pay particular attention to the information in the technical data.
2
Function
Once the supply voltage (L1/L+) is applied to terminal A1 via
the non-actuated EMERGENCY STOP button and to terminal A2
via the neutral conductor (N/M), the reset button between
terminals Y1 and Y2 is used to activate switch-on monitoring.
This actuates relays K1 and K2. Following the response time t
A
,
K1 and K2 lock. At the same time, switch-on monitoring is
deactivated. Following this switch-on phase, the two enabling
current paths (13/14 and 23/24) intended for the output are
closed. An LED assigned to the safety channels is used to
indicate these statuses. If the EMERGENCY STOP button is
pressed, the power supplies for relays K1 and K2 are inter-
rupted. The enabling current paths at the output are opened.
N O T E S
•
Before the reset button is activated, the EMERGENCY
STOP chain must be closed.
•
The performance level (PL) and safety category in accor-
dance with EN ISO 13849-1:2008-12 depend on the exter-
nal wiring, the application case, the choice of control de-
vice and how this is physically arranged on the machine.
•
The user must carry out a risk assessment in accordance
with EN ISO 14121-1:2007-12.
•
The entire system/machine must undergo validation in
