ITH THE USER IN THE CHAIR
Warning!
A wheelchair user may only be transported while sitting in
the wheelchair if:
•
The car or taxi has been adapted for this purpose.
•
And the taxi has been fitted with a tiedown system.
•
And the user is secured with the aid of the car or taxi’s
safety belt(s).
Consult possible further instructions regarding wheelchair transport. In the Netherlands
for example, the Code Veilig Vervoer Rolstoelinzittenden (VVR – Code for the Safe
Transport of Wheelchair Occupants)
1. Place the wheelchair in the transporting vehicle with the parking brake on.
2. Lock the taxi’s safety belt(s).
3. Apply the taxi’s securing system.
Warning!
An eventual belt that is attached to the wheelchair itself is
only a retention belt. It is not suitable as a safety belt.
