Operation
Clamping the Workpiece
1. Undo the clamping lever (O) of the tailstock (E) and slide the
tailstock into position so that the workpiece just fits in between the
lathe tip (T) and the tip (14) of the tailstock.
2. Turn the spindle screw of the tailstock in the direction of the
workpiece until the teeth of the lathe tip bite into the material and
the workpiece is clamped tight.
3. Lock the tailstock shaft in place by tightening the locknut on the
shaft.
4. Align the tool rest. The tool rest should not be too far away from the
workpiece (fig. 7) so that the lever effect on the tool is kept as small
as possible.
Under no circumstances, the tool rest may come into contact with
the workpiece.
Fastening the Workpiece on the Face Plate
The workpiece has to be fastened onto the face
plate (S) if you intend to turn bowls, vases and
plates. As the lathe has a pitch of 165 mm,
workpieces should not have a diameter exceed-
ing 300 mm.
