Troubleshooting Guide:
TROUBLE SYMPTOM:
PROBABLE CAUSE:
A.)
Suction hose(s) jumping.
1. Possible bad suction valve.
2. Confirm the valves in the piping are completely open.
3. The pump has been completely primed.
4. Suction seat (s) could be damaged.
B.)
Suction or discharge caps leaking.
1. Seals on caps are damaged
2. Seal bores are washed or damaged.
3. Cap seal area is damaged or washed.
4. Retainer nut is loose.
C.)
Plunger and/or packing fluid leak
1. Packing nut not tightened properly.
2. Worn or damaged packing.
3. Packing installed improperly.
4. Mating seal surface not cleaned properly prior to packing
installation.
5. Damaged or corroded mating seal surface.
5. Fluid being pumped is incompatible with the style
packing being used.
6. Wiper ring damaged or installed improperly.
D.)
High pressure iron is jumping
1. Pump was not primed.
2. Discharge valve(s) could be damaged.
3. Discharge seat (s) could be damaged.
E.)
Unexplained leaks at suction
manifold.
1. Seal installed improperly.
2. Seal cut or pinched on installation.
3. Mating seal surface not cleaned properly prior to
manifold installation.
4. Damaged or corroded mating seal surface.
5. Sealing part not properly tightened.
6. Crack(s) in fluid end through suction manifold bolt holes.
