Always use an exhalation system. The exhalation
system allows the used air containing carbon dioxide
(CO
2
) to escape from the mask. Without an exhalation
system the CO
2
concentration would rise to critical
values in the mask and hose, thus hindering your
breathing.
The exhalation system must always be installed in the
direct vicinity of the mask.
An exhalation system is already incorporated in some
mask systems. In this case no separate exhalation
system is required. Please refer to the operating instruc-
tions for the relevant mask in this regard.
1. If the mask has no integrated exhalation system,
