• Third-party masks may be used only after approval
by Weinmann.
• Make sure that the accessories used are complete
and suitable for the therapy in question. This ap-
plies particularly to the exhalation system. Other-
wise there is a risk of suffocation.
2.2 Contraindications
The SOMNO

2 should not be used with certain
diseases or only with particular caution. In each case
the decision whether to use SOMNO
smart
2 for
therapy lies with the doctor in charge.
This includes:
• cardiac decompensation
• severe cardiac dysrhythmia
• severe hypotension, particular in conjunction with
intravascular volume depletion
• severe epistaxis
• high risk of barotrauma
• serious pulmonary diseases (e.g. COPD, pulmo-
nary emphysema)
• daytime hypoxaemia
• ventilatory insufficiency due to a cause other than
OSA
• noctural hypoxaemia of an origin other than OSA
(obesity-hypoventilation syndrome)
• pneumothorax or pneumomediastinum
• pneumo-encephalus
• cranial trauma
