FOREWORD
The
PVI Centurion
modulating and condensing water heater represents a true industry
advance to meet the needs of today's energy and environmental concerns. Designed for use
with natural gas or propane gas in any closed loop hydronic system, the
Centurion’s modulating
capability relates energy input directly to fluctuating system loads. Centurion models provide
extremely high efficiency operation and are ideally suited for modern low temperature, as well
as conventional, water heating systems.

The output of
Centurion Water Heaters
is a function of the unit’s firing rate (valve position) and
return water temperature.
When installed and operated in accordance with this Instruction Manual, Centurion Water
Heaters comply with the NOx emission standards outlined in:
South Coast Air Quality
Management District (SCAQMD), Rule 1146.2
.
Whether used in singular or modular arrangements, Centurion Water Heaters offer the
maximum venting flexibility with minimum installation space requirements.
Centurion Water
Heaters are Category II and IV, positive pressure appliances. Single and/or multiple breeched
units are capable of operation in the following vent configurations:
•
Room Combustion Air: Vertical Discharge, Horizontal Discharge
•
Ducted Combustion Air: Vertical Discharge, Horizontal Discharge
The vent for this appliance must not be placed in the following locations:
•
over public walkways
•
near soffit vents or crawl space vents or other areas where condensate or vapor could
create a nuisance or hazard or cause property damage
•
where condensate vapor could cause damage or be detrimental to the operation of
regulators, relief valves, or other equipment
See CSA/ANSI Z21.10.3:19, Figure 2-A and 2-B for vent terminal clearances.
Centurion Water Heaters are capable of being vented utilizing PVC, CPVC, Polypropylene and
AL29-4C vent systems.
The advanced electronics in Centurion Water heaters are available in several selectable modes
of operation, offering the most efficient operating methods and energy management system
integration.
