Step 1: Installing the Main Landing Gear Assemblies
❑
Using a pair of pliers, carefully bend the axle into each
main gear wire strut, then cut the axle to the proper length
using wire cutters. Each strut should be 2-3/8" long and each
axle should be 1/2" long.
☞
Be sure to make one right and one left strut.
IMPORTANT
Make sure that you bend both struts to the
same length.
❑
Using a thin layer of 5 minute epoxy, carefully glue each
nylon main gear mounting plate to the bottom of the wing.
The nylon plates should be lined up with the edges of the
fiberglass wing joiner plates, as shown.
IMPORTANT
Before gluing the mounting plates into place,
remember to roughen the gluing surfaces of both the nylon
mounting plates and the fiberglass wing joiner plates.
❑
Carefully install and tighten two M3 x 8 wood screws into the predrilled holes in each mounting plate.
☞
Drill 1/16" diameter pilot holes through the fiberglass wing joiner plates to make it easier to install the screws, being
careful not to drill through the top of the wing!
