• 1/4-inch open-end wrench
• Tubing, union, and fittings supplied with the start-up kit for a 30-cm CH or 30-cm CHC
standard configuration with passive preheater
To connect a standard configuration with passive preheater:
1.
Using the 1/4-inch open-end wrench, connect one end of the 25.4-cm (10-inch) long
section of tubing (T1) to port 6 of the sample manager's injection valve, and the other end
to the union inside the column compartment.
Important:
Press the tubing ends into the valve and union ports while tightening the valve
and union fittings.
2.
Within the compartment, connect the passive preheater inlet tubing to the union using the
appropriate fittings.
3.
Connect the passive preheater outlet to the column inlet using the appropriate fittings.
4.
Bend the passive preheater outlet tubing so that the column is vertically positioned within
the compartment, and then secure the column to the compartment using the mounting
clips.

5.
Connect the PEEK tubing from the column outlet to the detector inlet tubing (T2) according
to the instructions in the detector's overview and maintenance guide.
6.
Route the tubing according to the instructions in the "Routing column-compartment tubing"
section.
2.5.3 Connecting a configuration with column-selection valve
The tubing for the column compartment extends from the outlet of the sample manager's injection
valve and continues to the inlet of the column-selection valve (bypassing the passive preheater).
The tubing then extends between the valve's inlet and outlet ports for one or more columns to the
inlet of the detector.
Restriction:
You cannot use the 30-cm CH or 30-cm CHC module's passive preheater in
concert with the column-selection valve.
The figures below represent the tubing connections required for a configuration equipped with a
column-selection valve kit option.
