Waterlogic 2 Firewall Technical Manual - Issue B, May 2014

Maintenance and Servicing

6 MONTH SERVICE PROCEDURE

This procedure should only be carried out by persons trained by Waterlogic

International or their approved distributors.

The following instructions cover models that can include Hot, Cold, Ambient.

• Every six months the filters and UV lamp must be changed.

• The Firewall quartz spiral must be removed, checked and cleaned every six

months if needed.

• A WL2 Firewall with a hot water option may require having any calcium build

up inside the hot tank removed, depending on local water conditions.

•

No paperwork or cleaning records should ever be stored inside

the WL2 Firewall.

1.

Isolate the power to the WL2 Firewall by turning off the red switch and removing

the power cord at the rear of the WL2 Firewall.

2.

To access the filters, undo the screws and release the clips located in front

of the lower front panel and remove the panel to gain access to the interior of

machine. To access the filters on a mini machine just remove the top cover. This is

a high voltage area and the machine should be isolated from the power supply.

3.

When a valved twist filter head is installed there is no need to turn off the water

supply; the water is automatically isolated when you remove the filter.

4.

To remove the Waterlogic filters, twist the filter anti-clockwise.

5.

The new filter will require flushing prior to being re-fitted in the WL2 Firewall.

To do this connect a water feed directly into the inlet side of the filter and attach

another length of pipe to the outlet side and direct this into a bucket/large

container or drain, then flush through 10 litres of water to ensure that any loose

carbon fines are fully removed from the filter to avoid any damage being caused

to the machine. The new filter can now be installed into the machine.

6.

Remove the UV lamp by unplugging the UV lamp connector and pulling the

lamp upwards.

7.

Check the quartz spiral for scale build up and clean if necessary.

8.

Fit the quartz spiral back into the Firewall Chamber taking great care at this

stage not to crack the quartz.

9.

Replace the UV lamp assembly and re-connect it. Do not touch the UV lamp

with bare hands.

10.

Inspect the electrical and water connections of the machine.

11.

Check the air gap around the machine to ensure it is not blocked.

12.

Turn on the red switch, on the back of the machine.

13.

Check that the UV lamp is alight by observing a blue glow from the top of the

UV cap. Do not remove the lamp from the holder whilst ignited and do not look

into an ignited UV light.

14.

Close the front of the machine and the top of the machine by fitting the panels

back to their original position.

15.

Flush through 5 litres of hot and cold water to ensure the water is running clear

of any carbon fines and that the taste of the water is clean and to the customers

satisfaction. If you are not happy with the quality of the water continue to flush an

additional 2-5 litres of water until you are satisfied with the taste.

16.

Turn on the heater and compressor switch and allow the machine to cool and

heat the water.

17.

Clean the outside of the machine with a non-abrasive anti-bacterial wipe or

cloth.

18.

Taste the water one final time and check the machine is cooling and heating

the water.

SANITISING

Items needed to carry out the sanitization procedure:

•

An empty Waterlogic in-line filter housing.

•

Rubber gloves.

•

Antibacterial wipes or spray.

•

Suitable test strips to work with your sanitisation fluid.

•

A Phillips screwdriver.

•

Sanitisation fluid.

•

A 5 litre container.

1.

Put on the rubber gloves to minimise the chance of any contamination to the

machine whilst the sanitisation procedure is being carried out.

2.

Turn off the water supply to the machine and release the internal pressure by
