TROUBLESHOOTING CHECKLIST
(CAUTION: SHUT OFF POWER TO PUMP)
PROBLEM
POSSIBLE CAUSES
Pump runs, but will not deliver
water, or delivers water at a
reduced rate.
• Air leak in inlet suction connection. Tighten inlet connection and make sure hose gasket is in place
and in good condition.
• Vertical pumping distance is over 20 feet or inlet hose is over 25 feet long.
• Inlet hose plugged or kinked or hose liner has collapsed.
• Impeller is worn. See replacement instructions on page 2.
• Pump body is worn. Complete pump must be replaced.
Motor fails to start.
Motor stops unexpectedly.
• Motor brushes are worn. See replacement instructions on page 2.
Pump runs, but stops. (115 volt
AC models only)
• Motor has overheated; motor overload trips out due to motor overload condition. NOTE: Overload
protector will automatically reset about 10 minutes after tripping. Disconnect from power supply and
allow to cool.
• Pump outlet hose is plugged or kinked. Remove obstruction or kink.
• Impeller is jammed with foreign material. See replacement instructions on page 2. No need to replace
the impeller if it is not damaged.
Motor hums, but does not turn,
and eventually shuts off.
• Impeller is jammed with foreign material. See replacement instructions on page 2. No need to replace
the impeller if it is not damaged.
Shaft seal leaks.
• Shaft seal worn due to pumping abrasive liquids. See replacement instructions on page 2.
