Continue to hold the boom securely with one hand and carefully release the
clamping lever [4]. Feel whether the boom is in balance.
If not, achieve this by the following measures, which can also be combined:
■
Hang less or more weight on the boom (note load capacity! See technical
specifications)
■
Move the boom in the bracket [6]
As soon as the boom is in balance or has only a
reasonable amount of excess weight to one side,
you can position and fix it as desired by tightening
the clamping lever.
The cable holder [9] helps you to guide cables for
the installed equipment along the centre column. To
use it, take the cable of the installed equipment, e.g.
a studio flash or a lamp with continuous light, and
guide it through the U-shaped recess of the cable
holder.
Then snap the cable holder together with the cable
onto the boom. It is advisable to run the cable down
along the rolling stand.
6. Moving the rolling stand
You can move the rolling stand by releasing the
castor brakes and pushing it to its new location. Be sure to re-tighten the
brakes there. Then check that all the locking screws and the clamping lever
are tight.
Preferably move the stand without the equipment and counterweight
mounted.
Disconnect the power supply for all installed equipment.
If you still want to move it with the equipment in place, ask a second person
to help you and watch out for obstacles on the floor as well as on the ceiling.
Proceed with caution, because with large weights at the side of the centre of
gravity, leverage forces can act quickly and strongly. There is a risk of injury!
NOTE
The rolling stand is not suitable for moving a light source or guiding a
camera during shooting.
7. Instructions for use and care
■
Note that lamp stands must be set up on a sufficiently loadable, level
surface to ensure maximum stability and load-bearing capacity.
■
Observe the instructions regarding the maximum load capacity of your
tripod model (see technical data).
■
Note that moisture on the elements of the stand significantly reduces the
holding force and the elements can sink downwards under load. Therefo-
re, if necessary, dry the elements with a soft, absorbent cloth (e.g. made
of cotton).
■
In general, all elements of this lamp stand are maintenance-free. However,
regular removal of sand, dust and other impurities is recommended. If you
notice a scratching or crunching noise when moving the elements, please
remove the impurities with a soft, moistened cloth.
■
When adjusting the centre column with mounted equipment, for your
own safety and to protect the installed equipment, make sure that you
simultaneously hold the centre segment with one hand before loosening
the locks.
■
When attaching equipment with 1/4 or 3/8 inch threads, note that these
have a lower load capacity than the 16 mm spigot (5/8 inch spigot)
connection. For mounting heavy equipment, an appropriately high quality
bracket is required.
■
Do not move a loaded stand or move it very carefully.
