X's-Drive

Problem
When connecting the
X'-Drive II under Linux,
many input/output errors
and READ CAPACITY
errors with sns = 70 2,
ASC=3a, ASCQ=0 are
shown by the
dmesg
command.
I want to format the
partition under Linux, but
I don't find the
mkfs.
msdos
command.
I have formated the X's-
Drive II under Windows,
but I cannot mount the
volume under Linux by
the
mount/dev/sdd1
command.
I cannot make a back-up
larger than 4 GB,
although my X's-Drive II
has more than that free
space.
Cause
Nothing is wrong.
This is only because
the memory slot is
empty at connecting
time.
The
Dosutils
package
is not installed.
A different volume
format called
Superfloppy (not
including a partition) is
made by Windows.
FAT-32 file system
limitation.
Solution
There is nothing to do.
Accessing to memory cards is
possible by inserting them
into the memory slot and
mounting the volume.
• Install the Dosutils package.
• Alternately, the partition can
be formated under Windows
or MacOS 9.
To mount a Superfloppy
volume under Linux, a
partition number must not be
specified in the device name:
mount/dev/sdd.
The FAT-32 file system allows
for files up to 4 GB in length.
Split the back-up into blocks
smaller than 4 GB.
