10. MEASURING THE WIND SPEED
Pay attention to loose or flying objects at high wind speeds. They may cause injury.
The flow direction in the impeller sensor must be observed.
The wind speed is recorded with an impeller sensor with optical recorder. The flow speed it marked with an arrow in
the impeller housing (top inside). This flow direction must be observed to avoid wrong measurements.
Make sure that the impeller can move easily and freely.
Proceed as follows for measuring:
- Open the lateral cover and connect the plug of the impeller sensor (20)
to the round measuring socket (13).
- Switch on the meter by pushing the operating button (8).
- The meter always is in sound level measuring function “dBA” after
activation. Push the button “MODE” (9) 1x until the measuring range
“m/s” is displayed.
- Point the impeller sensor into the wind without lateral canting. The
arrow mark in the impeller housing must point into the flow direction.
- The display shows the measured wind speed in “m/s”.
- To switch the measuring unit, push the button “UNITS” (7). Every push
switches on the unit to “km/h”, “ft/min”, “Knots”, “Mph” and back to
“m/s”.
- After completion of the measurement, switch the meter off again by
pushing the operating button. Remove the sensor and close the lateral
cover.
