Troubleshooting
Device Not Powering On
Try these steps:
1.
Ensure the power supply from Merlin elite Pro is securely connected to a working
outlet.
2. Make sure the two parts of the power supply cord are securely connected.
3. Ensure the power supply cord is completely plugged into the DC 19V jack on the back
of the base.
4. If you are using a power strip or surge protector, be sure it is switched on.
5. Check the circuit breaker and reset it if needed.
6. Push the Power button on the front panel. When the power is turned on, a blue light
is illuminated near the Power button and a blue light is illuminated on the control
console.
Poor OCR Results
The following tips will help with OCR:
•
Clean polarizing filter on the underside of the OCR camera with the nonabrasive lens
cleaning cloth provided with your Merlin elite Pro (avoid using cleaning solutions).
• Make sure the target material is steady and flat. It might take a few moments for the
camera to achieve focus after motion has stopped.
• Toggle the LED camera lamp on or off to try to achieve even ambient lighting, which
helps create a better image.
Slow Text-to-Speech
If text-to-speech seems to be taking too long, try the following:
•
Cycle the power on and off by pressing the Power button.
• If the device is not responding to button presses, then press and hold the Power
button for more than five seconds to force a shutdown. Do not physically remove the
device from its power source while it is shutting down.
