PREPARING CAPPUCCINO
Cappuccino is espresso topped with steamed and frothed milk. Frothing milk for cappuccino
takes practice. Do not be discouraged if it is not perfect the first time. The milk should be
half steamed (bottom of pitcher) and half froth (top of pitcher). It may take a few times
before you perfect this process.
For best results, we recommend frothing the milk in a separate pitcher and pouring the milk
into your espresso. The milk and pitcher should be cold. Do not use a pitcher, which has
just been washed in warm water. We also recommend a stainless steel frothing pitcher and
a beverage thermometer, if you own one, for preparing the best froth and steamed milk.

. Make sure the water reservoir is filled with cold water. Never use warm or hot water to
fill the water reservoir.
2. Fill a small stainless steel or ceramic pitcher about
1
/3 full with cold milk and set next to
machine. Skimmed or semi-skimmed milk will be the easiest to froth.
3. You are now ready to froth and steam your milk. Place a pitcher under the steam wand
so the tip is immerged about
1
.25 cm. Turn the steam dial to “
+
” and then press the
button to start frothing “
+
”. The light ring around the steam button will illuminate and
remain on until the button is pressed again to stop the frothing process. The steam dial
can be turned clockwise for steam. The tip of the steam wand should be slightly angled
and near the edge of the pitcher to create milk circulation. Micro bubbles should be
forming. If large bubbles are appearing, move the tip until the bubbles become smaller.
4. Continue frothing until the milk has almost doubled in volume; milk will be around 40°C.
Slowly move the tip of the steam wand lower into the milk to continue steaming. Milk
should be heated to between 60°C and 7

°C. Do not overheat as this can scald the milk.
With the steam wand still immersed, press the steam button “
+
” to end the process.
The light ring around it will turn off. Tap the bottom of the pitcher to eliminate large,
unwanted bubbles.

. Now it is time to make espresso. Follow the instructions in the “BREWING ESPRESSO
”
section to prepare the espresso.
6. You are now ready to make cappuccino. It is

/3 espresso,
1
/3 steamed milk and
1
/3
frothed milk. Pour the espresso into a cup and using a spoon or spatula to block the
frothed portion, add the steamed milk to the espresso. Finally, spoon on the frothed milk.
7. Follow the instructions in the “instructions for use” section to flush out any residual milk
from the steam wand. It is important to properly clean your steam wand and wash its
sleeve and tip after each use to ensure it continues to work properly.
8. Press the power button

to turn unit off and unplug the power cord and allow the
machine to cool. Empty the water reservoir.
