Set Serial Port
The NOVA V1400 includes two alarm serial ports, J11 and J12, located on the V1400X-AC-M Alarm Control
rear panel. These RS-232 ports may be connected to serial line printers in order to provide automatic alarm
reports or they may be connected to host computers. If connected to host computers, you may not use the
whole set of command codes discussed in
NOVA V1400 Host Computer Interface Software
Instruction

, but you may use the
alarm set
and
alarm reset
commands for all 2048 alarms. Note that this
means you cannot acknowledge a command using the J11 and J12 serial ports. The host port may use all RS-
232 commands (the host port, a third RS-232 port, is discussed in
Configure Host Port
on page 7).

Select each alarm serial port in turn and define the communications settings.
Baud Rate
The baud rate is the data transfer speed. The baud rate of the printers or computers must agree with the
setting specified in this screen.
Note: If you connect host computers to J11 and J12, you must set both of them to the same baud rate.
