Self-priming general purpose pump
1 Introduction
The EIP12 self-priming pump is can be used for
bilge water and as a deck wash pump.
Following the recommendations below will re-
sult in a longer life and better performance of
your water pressure pump.
c
aution
!
Do not use the pump for gasoline, solvents,
thinners, highly concentrated or organic acids.
This may lead to a leathal explosion.
W
arning
Do not run dry for more than 30 seconds. Lack
of liquid will burn the impeller and damage the
seal.
W
arning
If the fuse fails repeatedly, never use a heavier
fuse or short-circuit the fuse connection.
• Be sure to use the correct voltage. Only use
cables with the correct cross sectional area
to prevent unacceptable voltage drop.
• Keep the pump in good condition and carry
out the maintenance as described.
2 Installation
2.1 General
Always install and use the pump in accordance
with the applicable local regulations.
Liquids containing a small amount of debris
present no problem. In any other case install-
ing a strainer is recommended
2.2 Position
• See ‘9 Installation recommendations’ on
page 22.
Consider the following when placing the
pump.
1 The pump may be positioned at or above
liquid level. The maximum priming
height is is 1 m (3.3 ft).
2 The maximum suction line length (hori-
zontally) is 9 m (30 ft).
3 The pump can be mounted in any posi-
tion.
• The pump should be 1 cm (3/8”) free all round
from bulkheads or other equipment, to pro-
vide ventilation. Do not locate the pump in a
space less than 30 dm
3
, (1 cubic foot) unless
adequate ventilation is provided.
• In case of overheating the integrated ther-
mal protection will interrupt operation.
When cooled down sufficiently the pump
will resume operation.
• Position the pump and its connections in
such a way that they are readily accessible
for inspection and maintenance.
• Make sure that the foundation for the pump
is strong enough to secure it properly.
• Do not overtighten or use oversized screws
to fit the pump to the foundation to mini-
mize transfer of vibration and noise.
2.3 Connections
Always use high quality connection materials
and hoses. Check our website or contact your
local Vetus dealer for more information.
W
arning
Never connect the pump directly to rigid tub-
ing. Always connect it using short sections of
hose.
