Service - 40

5.  Remove accumulated debris and dust from the 

engine compartment and engine.

6.  Clean debris from the rotating screen and 

around linkage and springs.

7.  Clean the oil cooler (A) using a brush or com-

pressed air to remove dust and debris.

Changing the Spark Plugs

1.  Park the power unit on a level surface.

2. 

Engage the parking brake and shut off the engine.

3.  Remove the key from the ignition switch and 

allow the engine to cool.

4. 

Turn the battery disconnect switch to the Off 

position.

5.  Open the left hood panel slightly, then lift up to 

remove from rear frame.

6. 

Turn the fuel shut-off valve to the Off position.

7.  Remove the fuel tank cover (A) and the outside 

bolt for the fuel tank strap (B).

8.  Remove the 2) bolts that fasten the fuel tank to 

the fuel tank base.

9.  Pull all the slack in the fuel lines back through 

the hole in the tank surround panel

10. Remove the fuel tank from the base and place 

on the floor next to the power unit. NOTE: if fuel 

tank strap does not flex enough to allow tank 

removal, bend the strap forward and out of the 

way, then remove fuel tank.

11. Remove the plug from the tank surround panel 

to access the left spark plug (C).

12.

Open the right hood panel to access the right 

spark plug.

13. After changing spark plugs, reinstall the plastic 

plug into the hole in the tank surround panel.

14. Place the fuel tank back onto the fuel tank base, 

taking care not to pinch the wires, and pull the 

slack in the fuel lines forward through the tank 

surround panel.

15. Reinstall the 2) bolts back up through the fuel 

tank base and into the fuel tank inserts. Torque 

to 100 in-lbs (11 Nm).

16. Reinstall the fuel tank strap to the rear support 

and torque the bolt to 100 in-lbs (11 Nm).

17. Reinstall the fuel tank cover onto the rear frame 

and left fender. Torque the 1/4” bolts to 100 in-lbs 

(11 Nm) and the 5/16” bolts to 210 in-lbs (24 Nm).

18. Place the left hood panel back onto the hinge pins.

19. 

Turn the fuel shut-off valve to the On position.

20. Close the right and left hood panels.

21. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the On 

position.
