using special washers. If these washers cannot be obtained from your dealer, it can also
be done as follows (see figure 6).
Make the holes in the housing somewhat larger than normally necessary. Fit the
connectors onto a small plate of pertinax or PVC (at the right place). Fix the plate with
the connectors to the housing. See that no part of the connectors can make contact with
the housing.
For the autostart outputs you should use connectors of a different type, so you don't get
confused when connecting your record players.
MOUNTING
Check the assembly thoroughly once more before you start mounting. Pay attention
when fixing: a nut on the switch is fundamentally wrong, because, when tightening the
nut, you may break off the switch! Check if the leds do not touch the plastic upper layer,
because otherwise they will cause damage. Fit the connector for the headphone (6.3 mm
jack) onto the metal frontplate. Attention: this is the only connector of the whole mixing
panel whose ground connection not only may, but
even MUST make contact with the metal housing! In that way the circuit is earthed to the
housing (screen) at only one, well-defined point.
CONNECTIONS
•
Connect the wires for the headphone with the corresponding lugs of the connector (
fig. 7).
•
Connect the PFL-, MIX-, power and supply lines at the right side to the points with the
same name on the first fader module, using short pieces of unisolated wire (see fig. 8).
•
Connect the power supply lines at the left side (next to C4R and C4L) to the power
-supply module. PAY ATTENTION TO THE POLARITY !!!!! Use thick, flexible cable
(1 to 1,5mm2).
•
Connect the master outputs, also at the left side. Attention: to avoid earth loops,
outputs may have NO earth connections with the metal housing: the housing is
already earthed via the headphone connection. Isolate the connectors from the
housing as already described.
Wiring of the outputs is ALWAYS done using screened cable. The screen is
connected on both sides: on one side to the earth pin of the connector, on the other
side to the earth pin between the outputs on the pcb.
RL and LL are the 775mV outputs (0 dB).
RM and LM are the 1,55V outputs.
RH and LH are 2,5V outputs (usually only used for professional amplifiers).
It is not necessary to fit connectors for every output: the unused outputs can be left
open.
•
Connect the points VU OUT, +V and earth to the points with the same name on the
big VU-meter, when using that one. You have to make only one earth connection, that
is, the signal earth pin on the VU-meter (between R and L) may be left open.
•
On a big mixing panel model, you now still have to connect the monitor module to the
master module. Solder short pieces of unisolated wire between the points with the
same name on both pcb's. Connect the points TO MIX (L and R) on the monitor
module to MIX L respectively MIX R on the master module, using isolated wires (no
screen needed).
