Installing separate loudspeaker (accessories)

An additional loudspeaker can be installed in place of the vehicle loudspeaker (e.g. OEM
accessories, ML 5000), see connection diagram on page 3.
The loudspeaker should be installed at least 90 cm away from the microphone.

1. Unscrew the clamping screws and screw the retaining bracket to a suitable point.

2. Reattach the loudspeaker to the retaining bracket.

Installing the microphone, Fig. 3

Alignment

Fit the microphone so that the front side (the side opposite the connecting cable) is
aligned with the head of the person normally making calls in the vehicle.
The microphone should be at a distance of 20-50 cm in order to guarantee good voice
quality.

Installation

The microphone should not be installed in any areas where there are strong currents of
air.
Fit the microphone at a distance of at least 90 cm from the loudspeaker on as soft a surface
as possible in order to prevent intrinsic vibrations.
The normal installation locations are shown in Figure 3 (see arrows).

1. First clean the surface with methyl alcohol (spirit).

2. Pull the protective film off one side of the adhesive pad and secure the adhesive pad

to the back of the microphone.

3. Completely remove the protective film, position the microphone at the required loca-

tion and press it firmly into place.

Always observe the safety measures regarding the driver’s field of vision and the airbag

inflation range. Install the holder so that switches and levers, etc. are still just as easy to op-
erate.

1. Install the phone holder at a suitable location in the vehicle. For optimal positioning

of the phone and holder, special consoles are available from specialist retailers (in
some cases for hole-free installation)
The 4 metric screws and toothed washers can be used for screwing in from the rear.

2. Following installation of the phone holder, insert the two caps in the holes of the

phone holder.

Note:

Depending on the phone holder, different plug-in retaining clips are also supplied for the
phone. The clip to be used is visible on the stamped model designation of the mobile
phone.
Insert the clip at the top on the holder until it engages noticeably.
Keep the remaining clips for possible further use with other phones.
If changing the phone holder (converting to a different mobile phone) the power supply
should be disconnected from the control unit during the conversion work.
