SMS (Short Message Service)
With the hands-free unit, short text messages (SMS, up to 160 characters in length) can be
received and sent.

The availability of this function depends upon the network operator, enabling may be
necessary. Refer to the network operator’s details.

Images, sounds or multi-media messages as well as excessively long SMS texts are not
supported.
SMS service centre
The call number for the SMS service centre must be set via the mobile phone settings.
Receiving SMS messages
When new SMS messages are received, the message "New SMS! Read now?" is indicated
on the display.

This message is also shown when the system has been switched to stand-by.
1. Select "Yes" if you would like to read the message immediately.
Pressing "No", returns you to the last onscreen display. The SMS message can be read
at a later point in time (see below).

Incoming SMS messages are stored either on the SIM card, or in the internal memory
of the mobile phone (depending on the device). They thus remain stored after the system
has been switched off and can e.g. be read later from the mobile phone. The hands-free
unit can handle up to 99 SMS messages.
