6.4 Filling
the
system
a
Caution!
Malfunction!
Flush the heating system thoroughly before
connecting the appliance!
In this way you will remove residues such as
welding beads, cinders, hemp, mastic, rust,
coarse dirt and the like from the pipes. Other-
wise such substances can be deposited in the
appliance and cause damage.
Corrosion protection by water treatment
In the case of heating water that has been conditioned
by the addition of strongly alkaline substances, alumini-
um and its alloys are at risk from corrosion.
The pH value of the heating water must not perma-
nently rise above 8.5 or fall below 6.5.
Mixing additives with the heating water can result in ma-
terial damage. However no incompatibility with Vaillant
appliances has been detected with proper use of the fol-
lowing products over a long period.
• When using additives, follow the manufacturer's in-
structions without exception.
Vaillant accepts no liability for the compatibility of any
additive or its effectiveness in the rest of the heating
system.

• Inform the operator of the necessary measures if you
have used any of these additives.
• Inform the operator of the required procedures for
frost protection.
• Observe the applicable national regulations and tech-
nical standards for the treatment of filling and top-up
water.
Provided the national regulations and technical stand-
ards do not make any greater demands, the following
applies:
• You must treat the heating water - if the total quanti-
ty of filling and top-up water over the service life of
the system exceeds three times the nominal volume
of the heating system
or
- if the limits noted in the following tables are not ad-
hered to.
