4.1 Installation
location
Solar cylinder unit
• To prevent heat losses, please install the solar cylin-
der unit as close to the collector as possible; the mini-
mum distance to be observed is 3 m.
• Take the weight of the full cylinder into account when
selecting the installation site (see Chapter 12 Techni-
cal data).
• The solar cylinder unit must be installed in a frost-pro-
tected room in accordance with DIN 4753.
• Choose the position of the cylinder unit so that the
lines (solar and drinking water) can be run as practica-
bly as possible.
• Choose the installation location of the cylinder unit so
that you have a space of approx. 35 cm above the cyl-
inder for replacing the used anode with a chain anode
(Part No. 106 482) in the event of an exchange.
h
Note!
Insulate the heating pipes and hot water pipes
in accordance with the Energy-Saving Ordi-
nance (EnEV) to prevent energy losses.
a
Caution!
The cylinder unit must be installed at a lower
height than the collectors and lines on the roof
to permit drainage of the collectors. The height
difference between the highest point (collector
supply line) and the lowest point of the system
(bottom of the cylinder) may not be more than
8.5 metres, as otherwise the pump would not
be powerful enough.
Caution!
The slope of the connecting lines between the
collector field and the solar cylinder unit may
not fall below 4 % (4 cm/m) at any point on
the lines, to ensure a sufficient flow rate of the
solar fluid.
Caution!
No more than 10 m of the 10 m long (Part No.
302 359) or the 20 m long (Part No. 302 360)
"2 in 1 solar copper pipe" may be run horizon-
tally (while adhering to the 4 % slope rule).
Horizontal in this case means a pipe run at an
angle of less than 45°!
h
Note!
As with all equipment for generating and
providing hot water, noises also arise in this
solar energy system at a level which is
certainly in general below that of today's
conventional combustion boilers; however
installation in living rooms or bedrooms is
emphatically not advised!
